The Bethany Ethos

Bethany is founded on the confessions and traditions of the Lutheran Church of Australia.

Our school is supported by the Ipswich Lutheran Parish, with Bethany Lutheran congregation and church being on our school site. We uphold the teachings and values of the Lutheran Church and provide a quality education in which all activities and relationships are shaped by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lutheran schools aspire to provide a culture and ethos permeated by the core values of love, justice, compassion, forgiveness, service, humility, courage, hope, quality and appreciation. Central to Lutheran understanding is the truth of the Bible that we are saved from sin by God’s grace, and that forgiveness of sins can only be achieved through the work of Jesus Christ and not by our own efforts or good works.

Martin Luther emphasised the importance of education and was strong in his belief that girls were entitled to the same education as boys. Therefore, Lutheran schools are co-educational and strive to ensure opportunities are provided for all students.
